The Chop and Chomp BEAT FSU Food Drive

Help the UF Hitchcock Field & Fork Pantry take out a chomp of food insecurity and BEAT FSU!

Your support provides nutritious foods for individual Gators and their families. The Hitchcock Pantry offers nonperishable food, personal items, and fresh produce grown at the Field and Fork Farm and Gardens.

At the Hitchcock Pantry, we know that a good meal makes for a good student, and we work to support all Gators who are experiencing food insecurity.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does my gift support?

The purchasing of nutritious and quality food such as nonperishable grains, meats, canned vegetables, meats, produce, bread, and dairy products.

Why are donations necessary?

Donations solely fund the Hitchcock Field & Fork Pantry's stock. Without support, we cannot operate and meet the need of those facing food insecurity within the UF campus family. UF campus survey reported that 38% of surveyed students identified as having low food security. Last academic year alone, the pantry distributed over 220,000 pounds of food and completed over 20,000 transactions. All through the support of donations. We can only meet this need with generous gifts from donors and the Gator community.

Why is food security important?

Addressing food insecurity on a college campus is imperative to the university’s success. Foundational needs such as food, sleep, and shelter during developmental years are crucial for students’ mental and physical health and future quality of life. Unfortunately, the financial resources to meet dietary needs and sufficient, safe food are not available to all students. The pantry fills that gap by offering support through food and access to resources to ensure our students a positive quality of life during college and beyond.
